Itinerary

Day 1: Nairobi to Masai Mara National Reserve

Departure from Nairobi

  • Your Africa Terrain Safaris guide will pick you up from your Nairobi hotel, residence, or Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in a private 4×4 Land Cruiser Jeep, designed for optimal game viewing with a pop-up roof and high seating.
  • Drive through the Great Rift Valley (approx. 5.5–6 hours, 284 km), stopping at the Rift Valley viewpoint for stunning views and Narok town for a brief refreshment break.
  • Arrive at Masai Mara in time for lunch at your lodge or tented camp (e.g., Keekorok Lodge, Sarova Mara Camp, or similar, subject to availability).
  • Afternoon Game Drive: Explore the Mara’s acacia-dotted savannah, home to lions, cheetahs, elephants, and the dramatic wildebeest migration (seasonal). Your guide will aim to spot the Big Five and other wildlife like zebras and giraffes.
  • Return for dinner and overnight at your lodge or tented camp.

Day 2: Full Day in Masai Mara National Reserve

Early Morning Game Drive

  • Enjoy a pre-breakfast game drive to catch predators like lions and leopards at their most active, along with grazers such as wildebeests, zebras, and antelopes. Visit the Mara River to see hippos and crocodiles, especially during migration season (July–October).
  • Return for breakfast at the lodge or camp.
  • Full-Day Game Drive with Picnic Lunch: Explore deeper into the reserve, including areas like the Oloololo Escarpment for panoramic views or the Mara Triangle for diverse wildlife. Your private safari allows flexible timings, ideal for families or honeymooners. A picnic lunch is served at a scenic spot, such as near the hippo pool.
  • Optional: Visit a Maasai village to experience their culture and traditions.

Day 3: Masai Mara to Nairobi

  • Departure: Check out and depart for Nairobi (approx. 5.5–6 hours, 284 km) with a packed lunch for the journey. Per park rules, all visitors must exit by 10:00 AM. A brief stop at Narok town is possible for souvenirs or refreshments.
  • Arrive in Nairobi by early afternoon and drop off at your hotel, residence, or Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, concluding your unforgettable safari.
